Fontarèches is a small, medieval village centered around a 19-century church and a large chateau and its grounds. Apart from the church, there's not much to see in the village. The main attraction here, for us, is the beautiful lavoir at the west end of the village.
No village café, no commerce.
If you take a short walk out the country lane south from the lavoir, there are nice views of the village from across the fields.
Fontarèches Lavoir
This a beautiful covered and walled lavoir, with some of the beauty coming from its setting beside the road at the west end of the village, and shaded by a large plane tree. The arched opening of the lavoir face the south, letting the South of France light shine into the interior.
