This low, creeping plant with its bright yellow flowers grows in large, loose clusters. Stems and leaves have long hairs.
Flowers. Apr-June
Flower. 12-25 mm. Bright yellow, 5 petals and 5 pale green sepals. The epicalyx appears as 5 small sepals outside 5 larger sepals.
Leaves. The green or greyish digitate leaves have 5-7 leaflets, each with 3-7 small lobes near the ends.
Habitat. Grassy and rocky areas; sometimes sandy places. Our photo was taken in a woods clearing of the Alpes-Maritimes, at about 1100 m altitude.
