Blue-Spiked Rampion
Phyteuma betonicifolium Fr: Raiponce à feuilles de bétoine
We photographed these, without good sunlight, just below Lac Negre in the Alpes-Maritimes, at 2200 m. Our plant was 35 cm tall, wtih a 40 mm tall flowerhead.
Flowers. June-July
Altitude. 2200 m
Leaves. The basal leaves are stemmed, heart shaped, about 15-20 cm wide at the base. The stem leaves are long and narrow, 5 mm x 50 mm.
Habitat. Mountain prairies, above the trees.
