Also know as Meadow Saffron, the Autumn Crocus flowers before its leaves appears. The one in our photos was taken mid-September.
Flowers. Aug-Oct
Flower. Pink to lilac purple with yellow anthers, from 1 to 6 flowers per plant, with a tube formed from 6 joined tepals.
Leaves. When they do appear, about 15 cm long, deep shiny green, and clasp the fruit at ground level.
Habitat. Damp grassy meadows, grassy ground, open woodlands and waysides.
