Crocus versicolor Fr: Crocus versicolor
This crocus can be white, lilac or purple. It grows in a fairly limited area from southeastern France to northwestern Italy.
Flowers. Jan-May
Flower. The usually white petals have dark purple feather-edged stripes on the outsides.
Leaves. From 3 to 6 slender leaves sprout vertically from the base, before the flowers appear.
Habitat. Garrigue, rocky and grassy areas, open woods.
