Alpine Colombine
Aquilegia alpina Fr: Ancolie des Alpes
A branched, hairy perennial. More hairy on top than the Aquilegia vulgaris.
Flowers. May-Aug
Altitude. 2000 max
Flower. Dark purple-violet. The flower has a clearly protuding stamen with yellow tips.
Leaves. Hairless on the back sides.
Habitat. Chalk soil. Forest clearings, brush, rocks. We found ours at 900 m altitude in a forest clearing near a river.
Fruit. Sticky and hairy.
