This beautiful and distinctive flower has multibranched, finely-hairy stems from the base of the plant. After flowering, the long reddish, sharply-pointed calyces open up like 5-pointed stars sitting on white fuzzy "clouds".

Tall. Low - Short
Flower. Very small pink, or sometimes yellow or purple, flowers are grouped tightly in a roundish flower-head about 25 mm across.
Leaves. The small, stalked leaves are divided into 3 heart-shaped leaflets (3-leaf-clover shaped), slightly toothed at the ends.
Habitat. Garrigue, fields, stony ground and roadsides.
