The grey-leaved cistus has large purple-pink flowers with a yellow center of anthers.
Flowers. Apr-June
Flower. The purplish-pink flowers, 4 to 6 cm across, look like thin crinkly paper.
Leaves. The oval leaves grow in opposite pairs on short stalks, varying from 2 to 5 cm. The leaves have flat margins. Veins are inset on the upper sides of the leaves, and raised on the undersides.
Habitat. Garrigue and maquis, rocky areas, stony dry hillsides, open pine forests. Likes calcareous (chalk) soil.
