This lovely little flower stands like a fluted trumpet in the Alps and other mountainous areas. The short reddish-brown stems hold 2-3 flowers each, bent over on short stalks.
Flowers. Apr-June
Flower. The bell-shaped flowers,15 mm long, are divided into 5 lobes (difficult to see), with the lobes split into multiple narrow fingers. Each has a single long stamen.
Leaves. The basal leaves are in a rosette, round or lobed.
Habitat. Damp fields, river-bank brush and along the edge of melting snow patches.
