Muscari neglectum Fr: Muscari à grappe
The dark purple flowers grow in a tight bunch on the top of long, erect stems.
Flowers. Feb-May
Flower. The tiny globes (3.5-7.5 mm long) are in a tight bunch. The lower ones have a ring of white teeth. The topmost flowers are smaller, lighter blue and sterile.
Leaves. From 3 to 6 bright-green leaves are narrow, linear and channelled, from the base of the plant, up to 40 cm long.
Habitat. Garrigue, open woodland, grassy and rocky ground, olive groves, waysides. Those in our photos were found above Barcelonnette at about 1400 m altitude.
