Evergreen Candytuft
Iberis sempervirens Fr: Ibéris toujours vert
This low, evergreen perennial grows as a subshrub, usually in clumps. Apparent single flowers can be traced back along the creeping stem to the source.
Flowers. Apr-Aug
Flower. The white flowers grow in a broad, flat-topped, clusters on lateral stems.
Habitat. Rocky mountain slopes. We found ours in April, at 600 m altitude, between Draguignan and Chateaudouble in the Var.
Fruit. The silicula is 6-7mm, oval, longer than wide, broadly winged and deeply notched.
