Seven-Leaf Cardamine
Cardamine heptaphylla Fr: Cardamine à sept feuilles
This 7-Leaf Cardamine grows in shady beech woods and has a cluster of pale flowers on top of a single tall stalk with large leaves.
A protected plant, in the Red Book (Livre rouge) of Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur.
Flowers. May-July
Altitude. 2200 m max.
Flower. White, pale pink or pale violet.
Leaves. The leaves are lanceolat, toothed, and stalked. There are sometimes 5 leaves per stalk, in spite of the name.
Habitat. Woods, especially beech woods; chalk and clay soils. We photographed our cardamines at 900 m in a shady hillside-valley woods near the Col de Vence.
