Montbrun is a small village of stone houses clustered together on the left bank of the upper Tarn, set back from the river against the steep sides of the Causse Méjean plateau. The interior of the village is very picturesque, with cobblestone streets, steep passages and in a lovely setting.
The village is on the opposite side of the Tarn from the road passing through the gorges, and set back from the river, letting it remain in peace from the most hurried of the summertime tourists passing by.
Charbonnieres Chateau
The Château de Charbonnieres stands isolated past a bend of the Tarn 1 km downstream from Montbrun village.
