Pottery has been a [feature] of the Beyond region, across Provence and the Côte d'Azur, for thousands of years. The clay from Provence as been used here since pre-Roman times.

Jarres

Large earthenware jarres were made to store and transport olive oil and other local products.

Terres de Provence

Terres de Provence is an association of about 100 potters (potiers and céramistes) in the Beyond region. They present their wares in 25-30 town and village markets during the year. Most of them also have their workshops (ateliers) open for public visit.

Miniature Houses and Villages

The best-known maker of miniature clay houses and villages is Gault®. They create the miniatures with Limoges clay, and each piece is hand sculpted and hand painted. Their workshop in Cagnes-sur-Mer is open to the public.
