This nice example of a Neolithic burial dolmen sits in the midst of scrub lands of the Causse du Larzac that seem quite fitting for its age and history.

Finding the Prunarede dolmen takes a bit of good map reading and some confidence. The starting point is easy enough, once you know what to look for.
Drive 3 km north on the D130 road from the village of St-Maurice-navacelles (or 4 km south from the top of the gorge at the Cirque de Navacelles). Look for a bergerie on the east side of the road. It's the only building along the road.
At the left end of the bergerie property (just beyond the left side of our photo), an iron style crosses the fence. From there, you follow the unmarked path just under 1000 m north-northeast. With a bit of imagination and careful looking around, you'll find the dolmen — and probably not a lot of tourists gathered around.
