Driving north up the valley, St-Dalmas-de-Tende isn't much more than a wide spot on the road just before you arrive at Tende.
Although St-Dalmas has it's own hotels and a bit of commerce, it's now part of the commune of Tende, 4 km to the north.
It's at St-Dalmas where a road turns off into the mountians to Casterino. Just after the turning, you'll pass the fine old building of the train station.
Tende, St. Dalmas and Casterino are centers for excursions into the Mercantour.
