Rieux-en-Val is a very tiny village in a small river valley west of Lagrasse and southeast of Carcassonne. The main point of interest in this wee village is a very lovely old stone humpback bridge with three arches.
No café, no commerce.
We were here on a rainy, weekday summer morning (July 2014). The village was very calm and quiet, partly because of school holidays.
Early morning village life seemed to be a few kids playing, a couple of wandering cats and the post lady touring in her bright yellow La Poste van — she gave us a nice smile and wave although having no idea who we were.
