Correns is a small village on the Argens river in the Var, 10 km north of Brignoles. It's a quiet little Beyond village, with just a few sights for the visitor, a single café in the center and the minimum of shops for the local inhabitants.
 
The few sights include medieval arched passages, some cobblestone streets, and an iron campanlile on the stone tower of "Le Collet".

History

Name

First record, 920 Correnum

Prehistoric: Traces of prehistoric habitation were found in shelters along the Argens northwest of the village, in the area of Sous-Ville.

Gallo-Roman: Gallo-Roman artifacts were discovered in the areas of Sous-Ville and Saint-Marc.

Medieval: The earliest village was on the hilltop across the river, of which nothing remains.

The feudal fortress of Fort-Gibron was built (in the center of the current village location) in the 10th century.
