Santons du Monde Museum - Musée Santons du Monde

A display of over 2000 santons of Provence, in a 17th-century building.

Music Museum - Musée de la Musique

A thousand musical instruments from around the world.

This large private collection is in the heart of a Medieval village, on a shady site beside the river.

Steam Train of the Cévennes - Train à Vapeur des Cévennes

This 40-minute steam train between Saint Jean-du-Gard and Anduze follows the magnificent forested valleys for 13 km along the Gardon river in the heart of the Cévennes.

Open: March: selected days; April-early Sept: daily; Sept to beginning Nov: daily except Monday. 3-4 trains a day. Check with their website (below) for details.

Toys Museum - Musée du Jouet

Teddy Bears, porcelaine dolls from the 1880's. Large (O-scale) model railway, 160 square meters.

Les Aigles de Beaucaire

Spectacle with large birds of prey in free flight, at the ancient fortress Chateau de Beaucaire. Afternoons, 20 March to end October.

13 km west of Saint Hippolyte-du-Fort; 45 km north of Montpellier.

Grotte des Demoiselles

Underground caverns, one called the Subterranean Cathedral, and equiped with Europe's first underground funiculaire (tram).

Open: All year. Guided Visits every hour, beginning at 10h. Nov-Feb and Mar-Oct, closed from 12h-14h. July-Aug, continuous starts for the 1-hr visit.

Desert Period Museum - Musée du Désert

An historical museum for the "Desert" period of 1685-1787 in the Huguenot past of the Cevennes. From the Edict of Nantes to the Edict of Tolerance, the Camisards war, the persecutions and the resistance, up to the French Revolution.

International Postman Museum - Musée international du Facteuo Facteur

A collection of postal uniforms, hats, letter boxes, bicycles and other postal objects from 130 countries around the world. Collected with 20 years of research by to postmen.

Robert Lewis Stevenson completed his Travels with a Donkey here, in 1878. - 15 km west of Alès; 10 km northwest of Anduze; 6 km southeast of Saint Etienne-Vallée-Française.

Cévenoles Valley Museum - Musée des Vallée Cévenoles de St-Jean-du-Gard

From chestnuts to silk. Located in a 17th-century inn, the museum is dedicated to people's arts and traditions, and deals with the history and the Cevenol Culture. Important to the development was the chestnut tree an silkworm breeding.
