These photos were taken at Seillans in the Var, on stage 2 (the first road stage) from Monaco to Brignoles. The village of Seillans is the backdrop seen is some of the photos.
The breakaway group (les echapées) of Jussi Veikkanen (Française des Jeux), Stef Clement (Rabobank), Cyril Dessel (AG2R La Mondiale) and Stéphane Augé (Cofidis). were 5 minutes ahead of the main group at this point.
