Psychiatrists in the South of France
29 November, 2005
The French Ministry of Social Affairs (DREES) recently released a study on the dispersion of professions across the different departements of France. The results are probably of no importance to any of us, but some of the results are interesting.
At the beginning of 2004 there were 14,000 working psychiatrists in France, which is 22 psychiatrists for every 100,000 inhabitants, the highest density of shrinks in Europe. The psychiatrists in France are concentrated in urban zones [naturally, that's where the people are] and in the South of France [that's where the need is?].
