Beyond began near the beginning of the World Wide Web. HTML programming started in 1993, allowing the creation of web pages, and in 1995, Beyond was on-line.

In the early years Beyond had more information on a town or village than the town provided. And in a few cases, the town used Beyond's URL (website address) in their brochures. Even the Michelin Green Guide for Provence had a reference to the Beyond website.
- 6 August 1991 - Tim Berners-Lee releases web software.
- 30 Apr 1993 - World Wide Web can be used for free by anyone.
- June 1993 - HTML programming language to create webpages released.
- Nov 1993 - First webcam goes online - watching a coffee pot.
- 13 Oct 1994 - Netscape web browser released.
- 1 July 1995 - Online bookstore Amazon.com launched.
- Aug 1995 - There are now 18,957 websites online.
- 4 Sept 1995 - Online auction site eBay founded as Auctionweb.
- Aug 1996 - There are now 342,081 websites online.
- Oct 1995 - Beyond.fr goes online - 500 pages read
- Sept 1998 - Google opens its first office in a garage in California.
- May 1999 - Napster begins.
- Aug 2000 - Now 20 million websites online.
- 15 Jan 2001 - Wikipedia begins.
- 9 Nov 2004 - Mozilla Firefox web browser launched.
- February 2004 - Facebook was launched.
- March 2006 - Twitter was launched
- Aug 2010 - Beyond.fr readership has grown to over 6.5 million pages read by over 1.5 million unique readers.
